In Acts 16 Lydia is identified by her origin and her job, a seller of purple cloth, and the Philippian jailer is identified by his job, keeping prisoners locked up. After responding to the good news about Jesus, their identities are in Jesus, who they are is defined by their relationshup with him. Both Lydia and the Jailer decide to become Jesus followers and they and their households are baptised. It was privilege to share in the baptisms of people making the same decision t


What must I do ... ?
The rich young ruler asked Jesus ... "what must I do to inherit eternal life"? (Luke 18:18-30) Jesus' answer accepts the premise that there is eternal life to inherit. Jesus speaks of keeping the law and tells the ruler to and give all he has to the poor. Compassion and generosity are fundamental to faithful and obedient discipleship. What are the things that keep us from faithfully following Jesus and are we strong enough to demonstrate compassion and generosity in our lives

Connections
Sunday 3rd Feb a group of individuals worshipping with re:new shared their testimony and celebrated their recovery from addiction. They stressed the importance of connections. Ultimately it is our connection with Jesus that sets us free and our connection with Jesus that gives shape and substance to our connection with each other.
