In light of the current guidelines issued by the government and by The Methodist Church regarding the impact of Covid-19 we have taken the decision not to gather in REfUSE on a Sunday evening until further notice. We believe that this decision is the best way in which we can fulfil the command to 'Love God and love our neighbour', by being part of the global move to limit the spread of the virus and protect the most vulnerable in our communities. Situations like the one we are facing bring home the importance of community and the need 'love one another' in practical ways. If there is anyone who needs support or help please get in touch.
If you would like to know more about being a Christian and the hope that we have in Jesus, or be part of an online gathering for worship, please get in touch using one of the methods on our contact page.
Week 2 - Walking in Christ
October 11, 2016
This week we moved downstairs in Costa, Chester-le-Street, where we truly engaged with God in worship. We were reminded of our call to 'walk in Christ', Christ being the constant in our lives, by being rooted in Him as a tree sends down roots for stability and to take in nourishment, building on him, just like a house built on a firm foundation and established in faith, a faith which enables us to persevere. Paul was writing to the Colossian church (Colossians 2:6-10) who were beginning to view Christ as one of several valid 'philosophies', reminding them that Christ is the only truth and the only hope. Wise words even for today when many competing philosophies call for our attention.
